Would You Rather: Jump Rope VS Jogging for Losing Weight?

Today where are going to talk about jogging and jump rope we're going to be comparing and contrasting this with forms of exercise. The reason why we are doing this blog today is that we want more people to know how efficient and how awesome jump rope is.

So in today's blog, we are going to talk about one of the most common and most popular forms of exercise jogging. We are going to talk about some of the benefits that you can get from jogging and some of the benefits you can get from jump rope. So that you can compare and contrast the two and decide which do you want to do.

While you read this article today, I want you to think of yourself as an investor. You have only so much time and you want to invest your time in the things that matter the most. That's why I do jump rope and we're going to talk about this more.

Let's start with the jump rope exercise. According to studies with a jump rope exercise, you can burn  1,074 calories per hour (Up to 1300 calories burned).

Now with jogging, you can burn a decent amount of calories per hour and that would be 350 calories per hour (Up to 500 calories burned). If you are going hard, or if you are doing more of an upbeat jog you can burn up to 500 calories per hour. Now of course if you are an athlete and you can do sprints for a long time then, of course, you are going to burn more calories but most of the people don't have the stamina on doing sprints for a long time.

So it's very simple guys, you burn just about 2 times more calories just for jumping rope rather than jogging.

This is a question that we got most of the time. They're like "If I'm going to start jumping rope consistently, am I going to put myself at risk of injury?"

THE ANSWER IS NO

The reason here is because of a lot of the times when you're jumping off the ground, you're only coming up about 1-2 inches off the ground. For doing double under you might come up a few inches more off the ground, but in general, when you are doing most of your workouts you are just slightly off the ground. So when you do that, the impact on your body is very low. Especially, when you jump rope in the right form. That's by standing up with great posture, and you are putting all the stress in the muscles and less stress on the joints. This is why we believe in jump rope so much because not only we get the results but were also putting ourselves not at a high risk of injury.

 NOW ON TO JOGGING

Jogging is not a very-high impact exercise and most people don't really think they would get injured if they started jogging right? It's like a pretty chill exercise. Well, some research came out that showed almost 80% of people who go jogging on a consistent basis are going to have at least one injury every single year. That's pretty crazy! That's four out of 5 people who are going to pick up jogging are going to get injured in that first year.

In our Fitness Community, we never heard any people having any injuries when it comes to doing a jump rope exercise, the only thing we get is muscle soreness and muscle soreness is definitely different from injury.

One of the biggest reasons why you are much likely to get injured by jogging is because you're always going back and forth putting all your weight on one foot at a time. So it puts a lot of stress on knees, on ankles, on hips versus jump rope. On the jump rope exercise, it is going to be on both feet so you distribute more of the weight and that puts you less at risk for getting an injury on a specific leg or foot.

Everyone feels like they are too busy to work out. We asked our Fitness Community on a number of occasions, what are the main reasons why you think you are not getting workout results, what they tell us is it just comes down to time for so many people feel like they don't have to get their workouts in. And I understand that you're busy, you have other priorities, you have a family, you have a social life, you have work, you have all these other responsibilities and to get fit and do exercises on top of that, is tough!

With the jump rope exercise, you can always fit in a workout between 5 and 13 minutes we believe in that so much and if there are things in your life that are getting in the way, then you need to rethink your actions and start considering your health and well being.

As for jogging, this is really a subjective thing. Of course, if you go out and you run out of your front door and you go around the block ten times then you get a pretty decent jog in like 30 minutes but if you want to get up there and you want to burn even close to the number of calories you're going to burn from jumping rope, your going to have to go on a 2 or 3 hour jog and to do that, it just takes a lot of time.

The last point that we're going to talk about is fun. I do understand that if you are more of a competitive runner, it's very fun. You go to new places, you explore, you have new adventures, but if you are going on the same jog every single day, it can be boring and that is why I'm going to give the advantage to jump rope.

Jump rope is something that you can do just about anywhere, you can pick up your jump rope, you can go to a parking lot, you can go to beaches, you can go to mountain tops, you can do jump rope everywhere!

In addition to that, jump rope is also a skill, you can't just pick up a jump rope and learn how to do it and that's it. There are tons of jump rope tricks that you can learn so as time goes by your going to be constantly teaching yourself and challenge yourself to learn new ones and challenge yourself to perfect the ones that you are already doing.
